A protest ensued on wednesday night after a police officer allegedly shot a lorry driver to death at Ozara village in okene local govt in Kogi state.
According to sources, the incident occured at 10pm
after the lorry driver refused to give the officer bribe.
As Bashiru the truck driver drove , he was stopped at the checkpoint by the police man who asked for a 100 naira bribe, the driver in turn asked the conductor if there was 100 naira which the conductor said there was none. The police man asked Bashiru to allight the lorry, as he did so, the police man immediately shot him to death on the spot.
Right there are protesters which constitute of about a 100 lorry drivers blocking the road at Ozara and they said they dont plan to leave the seen until an authority comes to plead with them and stop uniformed men from collecting bribe.
