Yvonne Nelson protested against the nomination of ‘Beasts of No Nation’ on the basis that the movie was a foreign production. The Ghanaian actress has expressed her opinion on the just concluded Ghana Movie Awards, and according to her – the award is ‘A big joke’.
In a tweet she posted, it seems that she has heeded to the advice from her crew not to submit her work for nomination. According to her, awards are ‘meaningless and pointless’.
It will be recalled that the slim beauty, who produced ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’, protested the nomination of ‘Beasts of No Nation’ on the basis that the movie was a foreign production.
She argued that the budget of a Hollywood movie cannot be compared to Ghanaian movies and so will be unfair for the movie to be nominated.
‘Beasts of No Nation’ however, received fifteen nominations and swept most of the awards for the categories under which it was nominated at the 2015 edition.
