Globacom, while congratulating the top-rated artistes, said that they had, by winning the awards, confirmed their popularity in the nation’s entertainment industry.
Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid won the Best R & B/ Pop album for “A.Y.O.”, while his monster hit “Ojuelegba” was adjudged the “Song of the Year”.
Reekado Banks also won two awards, “Next Rated” and “Best Music Video” which was for his song “Katapot”.
African Rapper Number One, Mike Abaga, popularly called MI went home with “Best Rap Album” for his album, “Chairman”, while Korede Bello’s “God win” won the “Best Pop” single award.
In a statement released in Lagos on Tuesday, Globacom described the various awards won by its brand ambassadors as a testament to their popularity and a confirmation of their iconic status in the entertainment industry.
“We received the news of the awards hauled by some of our brand ambassadors with great joy. We are happy that they were adjudged the best in the entertainment industry, and this resonates with our brand promise of promoting excellence. They are worthy ambassadors indeed”, the statement added.
“The fact that “Song of the Year” Award won by Wizkid and “Next Rated” Award won by Reekado Banks are two of the three awards which were strictly decided by fans’ votes gives added value to the quality of the “Headies Awards”.
